An ARHAI Scotland Short Life Working Group (SLWG) was commissioned to develop an IPC pathway in support of the Centre of Sustainable Delivery (CfSD) work aimed at improving the delivery of cataract surgery in Scotland. The SLWG have since produced a set of agreed IPC principles aimed at preventing and controlling endophthalmitis post cataract surgery. The Journal of Hospital Infection have accepted an ARHAI Scotland journal article for publication titled ‘Development of an Infection Prevention and Control Pathway to facilitate high throughput cataract surgery in Scotland’. The journal article shares the process and research methods undertaken to produce the IPC principles and recognises the potential of such a process to support similar pathways for other surgeries’.
