NHS Education for Scotland - Healthcare Associated Infection Training

NHS Education for Scotland provide Healthcare Associated Infection training for all Scottish health and social care staff and students using the Scottish Infection Prevention and Control Education Pathway (SIPCEP).

A matrix has been produced for SIPCEP showing which parts of the pathway are relevant to different roles and which parts have been customised for specific roles including social care and domestic services.

The foundation layer of SIPCEP covers Standard Infection Control Precautions and is aligned to the NIPCM.

e-Bug is a European wide free educational resource website that can be used by pupils and teachers in primary and secondary school and young adults as a fun way to learn about micro-organisms and prevention and treatment of infection.

One & Only Campaign - Single-Dose or Multi-Dose?

Not all vials are created equal. Dozens of recent outbreaks have been associated with reuse of single-dose vials and misuse of multiple-dose vials. As a result of these incidents, patients have suffered significant harms, including death. CDC and the One & Only Campaign urge healthcare providers to recognize the differences between single-dose and multiple-dose vials and to understand appropriate use of each container type.
