Following consultation Appendix 13 has been updated with the following changes:

Inclusion of new sentence in Paragraph 2:

'Further information on optimal patient placement and use of respiratory protective equipment is available in Appendix 11 of the NIPCM. Pathogen specific information and links to available guidance can be found in the NIPCM A-Z of pathogens.

Table 1

'Clostridum' changed to 'Clostridiodes'.

Staphylococcus aureus locations changed from 'All care settings' to 'High risk units e.g ICU/PICU.

ESBL producers locations changed from 'All clinical/care settings' to 'High risk units e.g ICU/PICU/NICU, oncology/haemotology'

New bacteria included 'Meticillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and borderline oxacillin-resistant S. aureus (BORSA)'

Carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE) changed to 'Carbapenem-resistant organisms (CRO).
